DCAA Overview

Who Is The DCAA?

The DCAA is a non-profit, volunteer run organization responsible for funding and operating youth sports K thru 6th grade (and a few sports for 7th & 8th grade) for the community of Dansville. Money to run the organization comes from participation fees, donations and fundraisers.

The DCAA has a Board of Directors that set policies, do major fundraising, distribute money from the general fund and appoint commissioners. If you have general questions about the program and what is available, you should contact a Board Member. A list of Board Members and their contact information can be found in the Contact Information portion of this site.

Each sport has a commissioner. The commissioner is responsible for naming coaches, purchasing equipment, registering athletes and scheduling games with surrounding communities. You will find a list of sports that are offered, along with the commissioner’s name and which season the sport is played in the Contact Information portion of this site. If you have questions regarding a specific sport, you should contact the appropriate commissioner.

The goal of the DCAA is to teach children the fundamentals of the sport they are participating in, sportsmanship, and how to be a team player. Safety is always an issue, but commissioners and coaches strive to give each child ample playing time. Unless otherwise stated, all teams compete on a recreational level. Winning is great, but the fun of participating and preparing kids for the future is what is stressed. Participating in a sport teaches children many life lessons, enhances self-esteem, and helps keep them physically healthy. DCAA’s goal is to keep it a fun and positive experience.
